Chihuly

These aren't colored jellyfish... although that's what I think they look like. This installation by Dale Chihuly, called 'Fiori Di Como' is located in the lobby of the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and is made up of over two thousand blown glass flowers.

Nice photo. I love Chihuly, but the Bellagio ceiling has always been my least favorite of his pieces, it just gets lost in everything else going on. However, your picture definitely makes it look good.

I’ve seen several Chihuly exhibits and I love the huge pieces, but my favorite was a portion of the exhibit at the Olympics in Salt Lake City. A low glass ceiling was installed in a hall way area. Sitting on the glass overhead and li from behind were thousands and thousands of small glass sculptures. Most of them were free form, some of them were animals, cherubs etc. It was so whimsical and what really added to the whimsy was that children and adults alike were lying on their backs scooting around the room to look at different sections or change angles.

Hi Girls! Kala just pointed me in your direction cuz I just posted a shot thru the window of a neat art glass shop I happened upon last nite! And I actually saw this installation last Turkey Day, when I was in Vegas! Very KEWL! :-)

I don't know Chihuly, but I know that this would make a fantastic backround for a computer desktop! Great shot!

WOW! If I had a "Best Of" site like Marie's, this one would be there in a heartbeat. Greetings from the land of Chihuly! I have a link to his studio at Seattle Daily Photo. It sounds like you isolating this section of the ceiling really does this piece justice. GREAT shot!
