Dry Lake Bed

This a photo of the dry lake bed that we were at. Notice the cracked surface. Dry lake beds are formed over time and consist primarily of calcite and gypsum, which will make the lake bed hard(see http://geology.about.com/od/structureslandforms/a/aboutplayas.htm).

Your next picture should be of one of those ugly "Don't be a Dust Hole" billboard, cautioning desert visitors not to break the crust and raise dust.
