More Canyon de Chelly

This is a close up picture of some Anasazi ruins in the canyon, this particular set of ruins is called the white house. There is an upper portion and a lower portion. In the upper portion an Anasazi mummy was discovered years ago and was buried there later. To mark it's burial home they white washed one of the houses in the upper section of the ruins(which from this angle is not shown). The picture below shows the river bed that we four wheeled through. As to respond to some comments from yesterdays post... I am working on posting a picture tomorrow that shows the canyon in proportion! Thanks for all your comments! - Wendi

Another mythical place of the south-west... Thank you to take us to these great historical ruins!

What an approriate pic for election day - a set of ruins called the "white house" - was this on purpose or coincidence? Anyway, I think I saw some fossilizeddinosaur bones in the river bed - this area looks so remote and desolate yet it appears to have so much history buried in its soil. I will have to Wiki Anasazi - its like they carved their homes right out of the mountains!

Another awesome image. The canyon makes one feel so insignificant.

The canyon walls are astounding. A friend of mine that loves the Grand Canyon says that it is a very spiritual place and I get that sense from these photos of Canyon de Chelly. Did you feel it was a spiritual place?

Felicia-
Interesting question... I did feel it was a spiritual place of sorts. I feel that way about much of the outdoors, being outside helps me connect with reality and calms my soul. It does make you feel as Robert said, a bit insignificant.

Kala-
Love your comments, they keep me entertained!
