St. Louis, MO from St. Louis, IL

Another interesting thing about St. Louis- it is actually in two states! This is from the Illinois side of St. Louis- we walked across the bridge here and found that half way across is the state line- pretty neat! I'm not sure which river it is, but there are two main waterways that connect in St. Louis- the Mississippi and the Missouri. I will say it is more water than I've seen in a long time!

Yeah. St. Louis is only in Missouri. East St. Louis is in Illinois. Different cities entirely. The river is the Mississippi. Hmm...

thank you both for the geography lesson! I haven't had the time to really research it a whole lot, so I apologize for giving the wrong information out. I do realize that it would probably be two seperate cities, just like henderson, summerlin, green valley and many others out here, but it is generally thought of as the same city. I did find that there are many people that can be quite rude in St. Louis however...

Dave,

I'm not a St. Louis native, but I have lived here since '05 and I can tell you that the vast majority of those from St. Louis are *NOT* of the rude sort. Unfortunately it seems like you've experienced quite the opposite but I hope you come back to visit this great city again someday.

There is a lot of good information about St. Louis here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis%2C_Missouri

It's worthy of a read...if you're into that sort of thing (and are still interested after your negative experience!) :)

Now go and research East St. Louis, Illinois, and realize how lucky you are to be alive today after crossing the river in to Illinois!

Haha, Joey, that is very true. East St. Louis has done its share to earn St. Louis its "Most Dangerous City in the U.S." certainly. I do hope you were careful!

Also, that is a lovely view of the arch, as was the previous one.
